Post Week 5 trial with Kanji

[He's been ragged, despite what he said to Seizaburo, he wasn't quite over what happened in the pawn shop, then witnessing a suicide and several attempts at matyrdom, and a child... he's drained and there's not a drop to drink]

Sinbad, got a moment?

[Kanji approaches. He seems rather shaken up -- and who can blame him, Mary killed Ichigo and Akira was a Reaper. Adding to that that Miki was a culprit last week...yeah, he's not having a good time]

I just want you to answer me with honesty something, alright?

[This possibly will drain you further, Sinbad]

[He looks up as Kanji approaches, his eyes closed as he puts on a smile that feels broken]

Go ahead and ask.

Look, I'm not accusing you of anythin', I just... [He sighs] After everything that has happened it feels like everybody I have gotten along with have somethin' to hide. It sucks.

...so I just wanted to ask you straightaway that if there's something like you're a Reaper or whatever. I just want to know if there's something I don't know.

[He has no reason to think Sinbad is a Reaper or has killed or plans to kill or anything. It's just that, well...]

I just want to find out for once beforehand instead of hearing about it during a damn trial. I want to know I can trust ya -- I don't care if you're a Reaper or not, I just want to be on the same page than you.

[Heck, he knows the odds say Sinbad isn't a Reaper, but he has to ask nonetheless. He doesn't even have the intention of getting upset or anything.

He just wants to know he can have someone's back without later feeling betrayed]

[He listens, before giving a quiet little laugh, before gesturing Kanji to sit next to him]

You're not the first to ask me a question like that - Magnus asked if I was the one who killed Ranpo after that trial... we know the answer to that one.

[Slowly, he opens his eyes, tilting his head back]

But I can assure you I'm in neither reaper camp... I was just as stunned to find out Akira was... and Ichigo, despite what he wrote, he didn't deserve it... not that.

[Kanji sits to his side, just falling heavily and looking rather tired]

Yeah. They didn't deserve any of this. Kurusu, Kurosaki, Kuroda, Terra, and others...they're good people, but this game is forcing them to do stuff they'd never do otherwise. I know it, but it still hurts.

But you know, as weird as it can sound, I'm glad you're as lost as me -- not having a group and all. These days it was starting to feel like I was the only one caught in the crossfire of this whole mess.

[He rubs his face with the back of his hand, feeling his eyes burning, biting his tongue to try not to cry - can't allow himself to, not now]

I am tired of the fact that we kept getting caught up in some stupid grudge match going on, of people I like getting killed, forced to kill or turn out psychotic.

I've been feeling lost since I woke up here, like someone put a gauze over my eyes and I'm only partially seeing everything, I'm not sure how everyone else can stand that feeling.

Maybe they can't stand it and they are as desperate as us.

[It'd explain some of the behaviors Kanji has seen, at least]

You know, Niijima, Kurusu and Kitagawa come from the same world than me. They all had the same kinda power I had.

[His brows raised slightly]

That's explain why all of you are pretty close knight, but...

[Sinbad prompted, thinking there's more to it]

We went through the same experiences, kinda. A bit different than mine, but overall they were similar. I guess that's why I trusted them. It felt like I was back with the friends I knew. Especially Kurusu, he reminded me of Senpai in some ways.

Makes me wonder how they'd be doing if they were here. I can't imagine Senpai being a Reaper. Guess I...was projecting a bit on Kurusu, thinkin' he was the same kind of person than my best friend.

I was being stupid, right?

It's not stupid.

Yeah, it's a bit silly to project, but any port in a storm is a cliche for a reason, and Akira is generally a good guy... reaper nonsense aside.

[At least Sinbad understands. It's a comfort. Kanji manages to look up, his spirit somewhat lifted]

You gotten close to anyone?

I'd like to think I got somewhat close with you and Undine...

[He trails off slightly, anyone else he was starting to get close to ended up dying]

You 'think' you got close to me? We are close. Chin up, we're pals.

Didn't expect Wells, though. You really been spending lots of time with Wells?

[Undine is a nice person and Kanji likes her, despite what she did Sinbad is safe being close friends with her, in his opinion]

I'd thought so, but being too presumptious is kind of a bad thing... [He smiles]

Yeah, we did a lot of talking, she's the one who braided my hair earlier this week.
